Time capsule
Held in the womb of the earth,
we fall into weightless submission.
The sea is syrupy air,
enveloping and embracing
the skin we give it permission to.
Her bitter greeting becomes a tepid welcome;
invites us to be soft
once we release ourselves into whole submersion.
It is effortless,
and our bodies free themselves from work.
Our quietness soaks us further into this moment,
for no words need be said
to know we share in such serenity.
It is effortless.
There has never been any other reality than now
nor conditions to dissolve the elusive—
and as the webs of my feet catch on
and wade through transient waters,
I meet the faces of others lost
in their own rich worlds
laughing
smiling
in peaceful solitude,
cloaked by the same atmosphere.
Yet we are absorbed in one another
and our sharing
of this
fleeting
but neverending present.
For I will stay here
and revisit in the silence of the night,
bringing myself back
to our truth with no bounds.
