I started as a Product Management intern on the Email Service team this week, and I want to keep an honest log of what I learn — partly for me, partly for anyone curious about what a PM internship actually looks like.
What the team builds
Email Service has two halves that I keep having to explain to friends:
- Email Routing receives mail sent to your domain and forwards it where you want.
- Email Sending lets applications send mail from your domain with good deliverability.
What surprised me
How much of email is really about trust — SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sender reputation. The hard part isn’t sending a message; it’s making sure the message is believed.
